Welcome to the Menopause Explained Course. Thank you for your interest in Dr. Orly Steinberg, your teacher in this course and in your journey through perimenopause and menopause.
Dr. Orly Steinberg was born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Houston, TX, where she graduated from Bellaire High School in 1989. As a teenager, she was actively involved in community service and youth group activities.
She earned a mathematics degree from the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 1996. Dr. Steinberg completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at George Washington University in Washington, DC, in 2000. She then began her career in a private practice in Seattle, WA, later spending two years in North Carolina before returning to the Seattle area to establish her own practice.
During her time in private practice, Dr. Steinberg also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Washington State University’s medical school. In 2019, her practice joined the University of Washington, where she worked for two years before moving to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, WA. There, she continued to provide comprehensive OB/GYN care, including minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
After experiencing a health challenge in 2022–2023, Dr. Steinberg decided to shift her focus, leaving overnight shifts behind to start a new practice dedicated to menopause medicine. She earned her Menopause Society Certification in 2023 and has maintained board certification in OB/GYN for 25 years.Â
Dr. Steinberg’s passion for supporting women through perimenopause and menopause began during her residency, where she worked with leading hormone experts and developed a special interest in female endocrinology. This focus continued throughout her career, especially as she worked with experienced gynecologists specializing in menopause during her first few years of practice, helping her to carry that passion forward. She has consistently emphasized individualized care and counseling for women experiencing menopausal symptoms or concerns.
Outside of her gynecology/menopause practice and outside of creating this video series for you, Dr. Steinberg enjoys spending time with her family and friends and being active in her community. She prioritizes her health and wishes this for everyone.Â
